Beer 365- #135 Guinness Draught

I drank this beer for one reason only... to put out the fire. See the burrito to the right? Well I'm a huge fan of super hot, spicy food. That burrito was the hottest I've ever had. The Guinness did it's job. It's thicker consistency extinguished the fire then coated to prepare me for the next round.

PS If you're local check out the Burrito Shack on Rte 7 in Wilton, they serve a mean burrito. If you want it hot let them know you read this and you want the "Mitch Special".

Pours a clear dark brown with quickly fading tan head. Really sweet caramel, pumpernickel nose. The mouth is light in feel with medium fizz. Flavors are sweet, almost to the point of cloying. Tones of caramel, brown sugar, molasses, the finish id drier but doesn't stop the sweetness from lingering for a while on the palate. (6.8% ABV)

Pours a brilliant golden yellow with white head. Nose is really light. Perhaps some bready, grainy malt. Mouth is light and crisp. Flavors are mild grainy malty with a twinge of hops near the finish. Not my favorite style but I would gladly drink this over many of the mass market lagers. (5.0% ABV)

Beer 365 #129 Rodenbach Grand Cru

Beer 365 #129, originally uploaded by mitchancona.

Beer 365 #129 Rodenbach Grand Cru

Pours a dark brown with slight red hints, wispy tan head. Heavy nose of bing cherries, balsamic vinegar, wood. Nice still mouth that is medium in body. Well balanced (better than the younger Rodenbach.) The increased percentage of older barrel aged beer counters the tart/sour flavors of the younger. Very complex but subtle flavors that include, but are not limited to: sour cherries, balsamic vinegar, wood, chocolate, cinnamon. This is a fantastic sipper if you can handle the flavor profile. (6% ABV)

Beer 365 #128, originally uploaded by mitchancona.

Beer 365 #128 Dogfish Head Sah Tea

Pours a brilliant golden/orange with thin white head. Extremely complex nose of too many spices to name. Clingy mouth feel. The spicy flavors hit first (Chai spice is the strongest) followed by an interesting sweetness, then more spice in the finish (juniper). This s a beverage to share. I had a difficult time finishing one glass, I could never finish the bottle.

Pours a a dark mahogany with glints of red and a nicely formed tan head. Really pleasant aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, cherry... smells a little like a Cadbury fruit and nut bar. Beer 365 #126 Red Stripe Lager

Beer 365 #126, originally uploaded by mitchancona.

Beer 365- #126 Red Stripe Lager

This beer was chosen more for the image than for the tasting experience. Pours a clear faint yellow with big white head that disappears in a blink of an eye. Nose isn't all too exciting, light corny, grainy sweet. Mouth feel is light and watery. Flavors are not surprising, corn adjunct sweetness, grainy, little to no hop character. This is another perfect hot weather beer that should be served ice cold and consumed quickly. (4.7% ABV)

Beer 365- #125 Miller High Life

I live in Ct where it has been a really mild Summer. We finally got a blast of heat. This is one of my favorite thirst quenchers. I consider it an adult alternative to soda. No need to write about "nose" or "mouth feel". Sometimes you just have to drink a cold beer on a hot night.

Beer 365 #124 Magic Hat Lucky Cat

Beer 365 #124, originally uploaded by mitchancona.

Beer 365- #124 Magic Hat Lucky Cat

Pours a hazy orange color with light tan head. Mild fruit laden nose, with glimpses of malt. Relatively light bodied with a subtle creaminess. Hop bitterness right off the bat, once that fades you notice a little citrus than a little malt then more bitter hops that seem to linger long after you swallow. Needs more "stuff", too one dimensional. (5.1% ABV)

Found this one hidden in the back of my beer fridge

Pours a nice amber color with auburn highlights, thick creamy head. Even with a little extra bottle age this beer shows plenty of life. Nice nose of citrus hops offset by caramel maltiness. Medium bodied with plenty of life left in the carbonation. Taste follows the nose nicely. Pineapple notes up front followed quickly by nice bready malt tones, this finish is bitter but pleasant. Makes me look forward to winter. (5.1% ABV)

Pours a light clear brown with lacking off white head. The nose is mild and not all that appealing, bready, a little malt, perhaps a little brown sugar as well. The mouth is medium bodied and relatively light in carbonation. The flavor is not overly complex, roasted malt, not much else. If you search hard enough you might find some caramel and perhaps a slight nuttiness. A mild hops presence is noticeable near the finish. (5.5% ABV)

Pours a hazy straw yellow with thin white head. The nose is strong with tart fruit dominating, try as I might, I can't find the peach. The body is light and lively. Puckery sour flavor, like a liquid Sweet Tart candy. Again I can't find the peach flavors, they must be buried beneath all the sour candy. (4.5% ABV)

Beer 365- #110 Dogfish Head Theobroma
Pours a rusty orange with thin white head. Nose is intricate, honey, spice, sweet malt. Medium bodied with limited liveliness. First few sips were to cold and reminded a bit of a scotch ale. As it warmed the spice from the chilies came through as well as some dusty cocoa notes. The flavors overall were dark and rustic. Nice sipper once, not sure that I would go back for another.
