2007 Curvature Napa Cabernet Sauvignon: Cristie Kerr and Pride Mountain Vineyards

There are an increasing number of wineries going the extra mile to raise funds for breast cancer awareness. Curvature Wines helps raise funds for breast cancer charities and is dedicated to increasing public knowledge about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. The label is a collaboration between three accomplished women, Suzanne Pride Bryan, Sally Johnson, and Cristie Kerr. Suzanne Pride Bryan is the owner of Pride Mountain Vineyards and a breast cancer survivor. Sally Johnson is Pride Mountain Vineyard's Winemaker and has also been touched by breast cancer - her two aunts are survivors. Cristie Kerr is a celebrated professional golfer, wine enthusiast, and breast cancer activist. Together they have created a line of wines displaying the best qualities of Napa Valley - equal parts finesse, concentration, and elegance.
This wine is ripe, rich and ruby red with infused aromas of crème de cassis, ripe raspberry and graphite. Fine round tannin complements the luscious mid palate of concentrated black cherry, cardamom, and roasted coffee bean. The 24 months of aging in 60% new French oak helped develop nuances of black licorice, dark chocolate and caramelized brown sugar forming a long velvety finish. Due to its extended barrel aging, the wine is ready to drink upon release, or may be aged for 10 - 15 years. This is the second offering of Curvature Cabernet Sauvignon and is from the expressive 2007 vintage, which has been heralded as the vintage of the decade. A long, warm summer provided the perfect ripening conditions to bring the fruit's flavors to the peak of intensity and concentration.
