Weekend Wine Tasting to Benefit The Wilton Family YMCA

Support the Wilton Family YMCA as it works to benefit the needs of our Community! Please join us on Saturday, April 12, for a special tasting event at Ancona's Wines in Wilton. Proceeds from the sale of tasting wines will benefit the Wilton Family YMCA and its charity work.

Here's the lineup for the weekend:

2012 Airfield Estates Sauvignon Blanc is one of our favorite crisp white wines. It is light, dry, and refreshing, with mouth watering flavors of zesty lemon-lime and tropical notes. The Miller family has been farming in Yakima Valley in Washington state for four generations. All the fruit for their wines come from their estate vineyards along the Rattlesnake Mountains. It is fruit-forward, aromatic and well balanced with bright acidity that finishes crisp and clean. It pairs perfectly with salads, oysters, light fish, and chicken.

2010 Cantele Salice Salentino Riserva is an excellent choice for Easter, it pairs beautifully with roast beef or lamb. On the nose, candied fruits and spices evolve into clean underbrush, tea, and amber notes. Enhanced by notes of red flowers, the aromas return on the palate transported by confident but not overbearing alcohol. The tannins and fresh acidity work in counterpoint to create a balanced, soft wine. This wine is ready to drink now, but it will continue to evolve for the next 3-4 years.

2010 Fitch Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon layers of generous, bright fruit aromas are accompanied by rich, mouth filling flavors on the palate. This unfiltered offering from Alexander Valley reflects hallmark characteristics of this world renowned region. Time spent in French Oak barrels lends structure and a weighty, yet supple finish to this wonderful gem.
