Ancona's Top Wines for 4th of July Weekend

Raise a glass in triumphant salute to America this holiday weekend. If you're heading to the fireworks this weekend leave the corkscrew at home and stop by Ancona's to pick up a few screw cap wines. Screw caps are super convenient (no corkscrew required) and ensure consistency in the quality of wine while maintaining freshness and flavor. While you're at it, browse our ever expanding selection of craft beer in cans or snag your favorites from our make-your-own six pack section. Enjoy these ultra-convenient bottles and cans as the sky sparkles in tribute to the red, white, and blue!

Lieb Cellars Pinot Blanc comes from the North Fork of Long Island. It is fermented entirely in stainless steel tanks to display true varietal character featuring notes of apple, pear, and rose petals. The palate remains crisp and vibrant with great balance and a long finish of fruit, flora, and minerals.
Red Tail Ridge Chardonnay Sans Oak is a lovely expression of Chardonnay without the oak covering. You will fine this wine has many similarities to a nice Chablis with pure aromas of lemon zest, golden apples and a hint of apricot. More of the same clean crisp treefruit carries over on the palate, combined with a layer of minerality. The finish is crisp and inviting.
Flat Rock Cellars Riesling has elegant citrus and grapefruit notes on the nose. The palate is juicy with a sweet core of fruit. Off-dry, this wine balances the fresh acidity with natural sweetness. A hint of effervescence from the natural CO2 captured in the wine provides length.
Huntaway Sauvignon Blanc is an intensely aromatic white showing an abundance of blackcurrant and gooseberry fruit flavors with underlying herbal nettle notes. The wine's power follows through to the palate displaying lovely fruit richness and concentration balanced with chalky almost mineral acidity which ensures versatility when paired with food.

The Reunion Malbec is a breed all of its own. It is an easy-drinking Malbec, a quaffing Malbec, a wine to drink with your food (and not just steak) Malbec. Its fruit is honest and ripe, although not sweet in the least bit, but soft dusty and palatable. Frankly, there's nothing fancy about this wine but its just plain tasty and genuinely well made.
Peter Zemmer Schiava Gentile is a light, mild red wine with low tannins. The red raspberry and delicate peach aromas are fresh and the flavors are lively, dry and and harmonious. Put a slight chill on it and enjoy it with appetizers, pasta dishes, and white meats.
Herencia Altes Garnatxa Negra is an unreal value made from 100% Grenache from vines planted nearly 100 years ago. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by a flowery perfume revealing aromas of forest floor, underbrush, sweet black cherries, raspberries and strawberries. Medium-bodied, ethereal as well as sublime, this finesse-styled Grenache possesses a delicacy that is difficult to believe for such intensity. (91 Points Wine Advocate)
Marcel Lapierre Vin de Pays de Gaules Raisins Gaulois is a simple Vin de France with lovely, fresh, grapey Gamay fruit. This joyous, refreshing, and lively wine is made by Marcel Lapierre.

Chacewater Rose is a dry, elegant Syrah rosé. It starts off with bright, red cherry, ripe strawberry and dried rosebuds. Soft and round on the edges with a rich, fruity core that yields to a long and complex finish of wild berries, spice and dried cranberry.
Bridge Lane Rose is a light-bodied, dry rose wine with jolly rancher, strawberry and rosemary flavors. It is a blend of 63% Cabernet Franc, 21% Merlot, 8% Pinot Blanc, 5% Riesling, 3% Gewurztraminer.
Laurent Miquel Rose is a refreshing blend of Cinsault (80%) and Syrah (20%). Thirst-quenching strawberry and blueberry flavors and a dose of minerality lead to a beautiful and elegant finish.
Artner Zweigelt Rose is deeper in color and less austere than the rosés of Kamptal or Wagram, Artner's wine deftly incorporates a bit of spicy and well-fruited Blaufrankisch into its ripe Zweigelt mix. Stunningly refreshing.

Mix and match a custom 6-pack from Ancona's Make Your Own 6-Pack section. Mitch added an assortment of new brews to the mix. You can pick your favorites or try something new -- the choice is yours!
