Wine Review: 2006 Pertinace Barbaresco Cru Marcarini - The Perfect Rainy Day Red

Bring on the rain! 2006 Pertinace Barbaresco Cru Marcarini is the perfect rainy day red. It is a magnificent and well-structured wine from Piedmont's Nebbiolo grape. Elegant and balanced with rich fruit and firm tannins. Excellent with big dishes, grilled meats and cheeses. A Cru Vineyard Barbaresco for just $24.99.

Mario Barbero and 12 farmers who became friends after growing grapes for years founded Pertinace in 1973.  They have a passion and dedication for producing the best wines they can from their vineyards.  They pooled their resources and jointly invested in creating a co-operative which allowed them to develop their vinification plant, bottling line and aging facilities.  Through the years they've worked hard in the fields and in the winery to produce premier, classically made wine from historic vineyards.  Some of the top wines of Barolo and Barbaresco are co-operatives (ie, Produttori).
