Hmm... The other day I drank/tasted Lake Placid's Ubu ale and loved it. (no real big surprise since I had tried it before). Tonight I tried their IPA and unfortunately came away with a different conclusion. Don't get me wrong, not a horrible IPA, just not wonderful one. Pours a clear brown with foamy white head. Nose was muted, some mild hop notes. Mouth is light with nice effervescence. Flavors fall in line with with the nose, muted spotty hops with some malt acting as a foundation. Don't get me wrong.... no real flaws.... ver easy drinking... just a little too toned down for my liking.

Beer 365- #226 Brewdog Punk IPA
Pours a bright golden with active white head that disappears in a blink of an eye. Nose is chock full of floral hops, hints a lemon, grass come through as well. Mouth is lighter than I would want with mild carbonation. Flavors are what you would expect, strong hops followed by supportive malt. Finish is dry and lingering. Nice session beer. (6% ABV)

Beer 365 #217 Brewdog Hardcore IPA
Beer 365- #217 Brewdog Hardcore IPA
Pours a hazy orange with slight tan head. Hints of floral/citrus hops, not a ton going on with the nose. Mouth is lighter than I hoped for, with minimal carbonation. Flavors are a bit disjointed, sweet malt upfront fading into one dimensional metallic bitterness. (9% ABV)

Beer 365 #211 Brewdog Chaos Theory IPA
Beer 365 #211 Brewdog Chaos Theory IPA
Pours a golden orange color with very thin tan head that goes away quickly. Nose is faint but somewhat traditional, pine/citrus/floral hop notes with light malt and slight heat. Mouth is light to medium with slight carbonation. The flavor is a bit over the top hop driven for the style (English IPA), the malt supports all the citrus/pine nicely though. (7.1% ABV)

Beer 365- #181 Stoudt's Double IPA
Pours a rusty orange color with fluffy white head that lasts and laces. Nose is citrus with hints of sweet caramel malt. Mouth is somewhat dense with mild carbonation. Beer 365 #177 Sierra Nevada Estate
Beer 365- #177 Sierra Nevada Estate*
Pours a nice amber color with clingy, chunky dirty white head. Nose is clean and fresh with pine, citrus hops up front. The malt is there, but well hidden. The mouth is medium in body and has a really nice creaminess to it. The carbonation is just right. Flavors are present but not aggressive. Very well integrated complex hop notes up front (pineapple, citrus, pine) the malt isn't all that noticable but you know it's there, it shows the most near the finish as it fades leaving a nice bitter finish. Very Good! (6.7% ABV)
*Estate Ale is one of the world’s only estate-made beers, brewed with 100% all-natural, hops and barley grown on-site at the brewery in Chico, CA.

Beer 365 #174 Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Extra
Beer 365 #174- Lagunitas Little Sumpin' Extra
Amber orange in color with nice, firm, off-white head. Nose is floral/citrus hops, smells a little like cheap OJ. Mouth is somewhat dense with good carbonation. Flavors are better balance than the Little Sumpin' , which I found to be a bit too citrusy. This has nice hops with a solid malt backbone. Finish is nice and bitter. (8.7% ABV)

Pours a murky burnt orange with an unavoidable thick dense off white head. Nose is big, citrus, sour candy, pineapple. The mouth is medium bodied with adequate carbonation. Beer 365 #149 Avery Maharaja IPA
Beer 365- #149 Avery Maharaja IPA
Pours a murky oxidized orange with wispy white head. Nose is sticky and pungent with, pine, citrus and sweet malt keeping it's distance. Mouth is medium in feel, but again sticky, with adequate fizz. Flavors are big and powerful. Pine leading the way with citrus following close, the malt supports without shining through, bitter finish that comes across like the pith of a lemon. (10.2% ABV)

Beer 365- #144.5 Dogfish Head Squall IPA
Pours a hazy copper color with thick white head. Nice full nose that pairs sweet earth driven malt with citrus/leafy hops. Mouth is big, dense and coating with adequate bubbles.
Flavors are intricate but very approachable. Resiny pine hops meld with caramel malt, notes of citrus, mint, honey, biscuit. This is a easy to drink (note the empty glass) DIPA that I wish I could find more of. (9% ABV)
