Spirit Review: UV Cake Vodka

UV Vodka is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a limited edition cake flavored vodka. I’m not usually one to jump on the flavored vodka bandwagon, but UV Cake is hard to resist...

This vodka is versatile, opening up a Pandora’s box of drink-mixing opportunities. It is great with root beer (tastes like a root beer float) or pineapple juice (tastes like a pineapple upside-down cake). It also makes a killer addition to any mudslide recipe. UV Cake can also be sipped as an after dinner treat by itself or mixed with Godiva Chocolate Vodka as a sinfully delicious shot.

It’s official, I'll admit that I am hooked... I am UV Cake advocate trying my hardest to convert the non-believers.

It won’t be around for long, stop by the store to pick up a bottle while supplies last!

Spirit Review: Crystal Head Vodka

What initially draws attention to this product is the packaging... who wouldn’t be enticed by a beautifully crafted glass skull? My initial thoughts were not about the liquid inside, rather, how awesome it would look on my desk. I bought a bottle within hours of their arrival at the store.

As I inspected the packaging further I noticed its box boasts Crystal Head Vodka is quadruple distilled then triple filtered through Herkimer Diamonds. When I read this I couldn’t help but do a double take. I thought to myself, “Diamonds?!” Within minutes I was online reading about distillation processes and the mysterious Herkimer Diamond. What exactly did I discover, you ask? I’ll spare you the drawn out geological details and get to right the interesting stuff. Herkimer Diamonds are quartz formations that are claimed to emit positive energy. Crystal Head’s website does not have any scientific evidence that Herkimer Diamonds boost human energy levels, however, taste tests show consumers prefer vodka filtered through Herkimer Diamonds over un-filtered vodka. After exploring Crystal Head's website I also learned the vodka is non-enhanced; it is free of additives such as sugar, glycerine and citrus oils.

After finishing my research it was time for a taste. As I mentally prepared myself for the daunting task of sipping straight vodka. I thought happy thoughts and tipped my glass. It was surprisingly smooth, light bodied and dare I say, quite tasty as well. Crystal Head is a great vodka, and even though it tends to be more expensive than the average vodka, it is worth every penny. For a limited time we are offering Crystal Head in a set that includes one 750mL bottle and two skull shaped glasses.
