Wine Review: 2006 Jemrose "Two Sisters" Merlot

Jemrose Vineyards was purchased by Jim Mack in 2002 based on a passion for producing world class wine. For the first four years he sold his grapes to top winemakers in Sonoma and in 2006 he produced his first estate wine under the Jemrose label. The "Two Sisters" vineyard, named for Jim Mack's two daughters, provides ideal growing conditions for Merlot. Grapes reach optimal ripeness on its sunny, south facing hillsides. 2006 Jemrose Vineyards 'Two Sisters' Merlot is a real treat, as they have not bottled their Merlot separately since this vintage. Michael Browne from Kosta Browne is the talented winemaker behind this amazing Merlot aged 20 months in French Oak barrels using 50% new. The nose is beautiful with blueberries, flowers, plums, and vanilla. It is rich and juicy in the mouth exploding with dark plums and cherries followed by hints of mocha that finishes lush, broad and long. Merlot at its finest is back in style and is a must have in every wine cellar.
